Requirements & Exam Fee Details
To take the driving theory test, you need to pay for Tasa 2.1, which currently costs €94.05. This fee gives you the right to take the exam and includes up to two attempts.
To pay online, you will need a digital identification method:
- •Digital Certificate (Certificado Digital)
- •DNI electrónico
- •Cl@ve PIN or Cl@ve Permanente
Access the DGT Portal
Go to the official DGT website (Sede Electrónica) and find the section for “Pago de tasas” (Fee payment) or “Comprar Tasas”.
Identify Yourself
Log in using your Certificado Digital or Cl@ve.
Select Fee 2.1 (Tasa 2.1)
Look through the fee categories to find Grupo II, and select fee code 2.1 (Licencias y permisos de conducciĂłn / Driving licenses).
Make Payment
The current price is €94.05. You can pay via a credit/debit card or direct debit from a Spanish bank account.
Download Receipt (Crucial)

Once the payment is approved, immediately download the PDF receipt (justificante). This receipt contains the unique fee number you need to book your exam.
Choose Your Appointment Method
Now that you have paid the fee and have the receipt, you have two options to book your exam date:
In-Person Appointment
Book an in-person appointment at your local DGT traffic office via the official DGT Cita Previa system to present your documents by hand.
Online Electronic Registry
Submit your full application and documents online through the official Redsara electronic registry without traveling or waiting for appointments.
